This Fuel Attendant can rap
MISA, the Motor Industry Staff Association, realised the Union has a gem in the making when Kabelo Olifant entered the MISA’s Got Talent Competition. Throughout January the Union encouraged its more than 75 000 members in the retail motor industry to share their talent. “I was in astonished to see the wide variety of entries submitted by members working in the different sectors of our industry,” says Martlé Keyter, MISA’s Chief Executive Officer: Operations.
Olifant is no ordinary fuel attendant working at Shell Unitas Motors in Bloemfontein. He goes by the stage name, *NBA JUNIIOR KÅNTRÃLL* when he is invited to gigs. “I have been working as a fuel attendant for the past two years dreaming at night that one day I will become an international artist. Someone must just see my talent and give me a break in life. I promise not to disappoint,” says the 23-year-old.
According to Olifant he tried rapping when he was in Grade 8 participating in a Hip-Hop Competition at school. “I was hooked and there was no turning back. Rapping is in my blood.” He often just starts rapping randomly for his colleagues and customers at work. “They just love it. We all love listening to music,” he says.
