TETA drives Youth and Women Empowerment through strategic partnerships

 

The Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA) is championing the cause of youth and women empowerment with a series of impactful initiatives designed to transform and grow the transport industry.

 

After a successful collaboration with the Empowawomen Leadership Summit, which celebrated and acknowledged the achievements of 1,000 women across various industries, TETA is reaffirming its commitment to advancing gender equity and youth development in the transport sector. The Empowawomen Leadership Summit, was a landmark event that featured a full day of masterclasses, panel discussions, networking, and mentorship specifically tailored to empower women in the male-dominated transport industry. This event underscored TETA’s dedication to elevating women's voices and fostering their success in the sector.

 

As a testament to TETA’s leadership and commitment, Maphefo Anno-Frempong, CEO of TETA, was honoured with the ‘Lift as You Rise Award’ at the inaugural Empowawomen Awards. This accolade recognises Anno-Frempong as a transformative leader who exemplifies the spirit of mentoring and uplifting others within the industry.

 

In addition to its successful partnership with Empowawomen, TETA is set to celebrate National Transport Month alongside Empowawomen’s ‘Women in Transport’ Summit, scheduled for October 30th in Nelspruit This summit will offer a day packed with insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and workshops aimed at inspiring and empowering women across the transport value chain. Dumisile Le Roux, Acting General Manager of Empowaworx and Head of Empowayouth, highlighted the importance of these collaborations: “Our partnership with TETA is a prime example of how strategic alliances can drive meaningful impact. By working together, we are creating invaluable opportunities for women and youth to gain essential skills, access mentorship, and pursue their aspirations. Further demonstrating its commitment to youth empowerment, TETA will also partner with Empowaworx for the Free-State summit edition of Empowayouth, taking place from September 26 to 28, 2024, in Thaba Nchu. This highly anticipated event will bring together 1,500 young individuals for a transformative three-day experience featuring 100 esteemed speakers and a diverse array of workshops and discussions across key industries such as transport, energy, agriculture, and more. Following the Free-State summit, TETA and Empowaworx will extend their collaboration to Cape Town, between 26 and 28 October, where they will host the Western Cape summit edition, mirroring the successful programme of the Free State event.
