SpannerTorque powering skills – MIWA launches first technical workshops of 2026
Turning knowledge into workshop muscle – that’s the theme of MIWA’s latest initiative to strengthen skills and standards in South Africa’s automotive repair sector. The first three SpannerTorque Festivals will take place in March, kicking off in East London on 6 March, followed by Paarl on 14 March and Bloemfontein on 20 March.
“Skills and standards are at the heart of our strategy this quarter,” says Dewald Ranft, Chairman of MIWA. “Our members face the dual challenge of staying fully compliant while managing busy workshops. The upcoming SpannerTorque Festivals are designed to help them meet that challenge, turning training and knowledge into practical, operational muscle.”
The Festivals bring together leading parts and equipment suppliers to deliver technical presentations, live demonstrations, and practical insights tailored for the evolving automotive landscape. With the car parc continuously changing, accredited workshops need to stay ahead of developments to maintain their competitive edge.
“Consumers also benefit directly when they choose an accredited MIWA member,” Ranft adds. “These workshops invest in regular upskilling and remain at the forefront of new automotive developments, ensuring vehicles are serviced and repaired safely, efficiently, and in line with the latest standards. It’s a direct route to trust for vehicle owners and peace of mind that their car is in expert hands.”
The initiative supports MIWA’s positioning as a leader in quality, compliance, and professionalism, while aligning with RMI’s broader objectives of sector leadership through training and operational excellence. The festivals provide an interactive environment for workshop owners, managers, and technicians to gain hands-on knowledge, exchange ideas, and explore innovative solutions from across the industry.
