Senior Skills Development Specialist – Automotive Retail Industry

Location: Johannesburg South Africa

A national organisation and leader in the automotive retail industry invites applications for the position of Senior Skills Development Specialist. The successful candidate shall be responsible for leading the design, development and delivery of structured training programmes within the South African automotive retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

•      Develop and implement specialised training programmes covering sales, dealership operations, customer experience and leadership development.

•      Produce professional learning materials, including learner guides, facilitator manuals, presentations and assessment frameworks.

•      Facilitate workshops, seminars and digital learning sessions for dealership personnel and management.

•      Conduct skills gap analyses and drive targeted performance-improvement interventions.

•      Support Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) initiatives.

•      Ensure alignment with national legislation (CPA, NCA, FICA, POPIA) and accreditation bodies (SAQA, QCTO, merSETA).

•      Travel extensively across South Africa to support national training and stakeholder engagement.

 Minimum Requirements:

•      Extensive experience in automotive retail industry at the level of Dealer Principal, Senior Sales Manager or Senior Manager.

•      Proven competency in developing, mentoring and training dealership sales teams.

•      Strong knowledge of dealership operational processes, compliance requirements and sales documentation.

•      Ability to translate operational expertise into formalised, accredited training programmes.

•      Demonstrated experience in facilitating professional training or industry learning sessions.

•      Willingness and ability to travel nationwide as required.

•      Automotive dealership operations and sales experience.

•      Skills development and training programme design.

•      Legislative and compliance knowledge within automotive retail industry.

•      Professional facilitation and presentation capability.

•      Learning material and assessment development.

•      Leadership development and mentorship.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

•      Training certifications (Facilitator, Assessor, Moderator).

The successful candidate will contribute to elevating professional standards, enhancing dealership performance and supporting the long-term professionalisation of the South African automotive retail industry.
