A-Z Collision Repair Program
Anglo American’s Zimele Mine along with partners 3M and Super Auto Paints, have launched a vehicle restoration program with the purpose of training new automotive repair professional and inspiring entrepreneurship in the region.
The A-Z Collision Repair Program is 4-month long initiative, which provides theoretical background and practical automotive repair experience to participants. Structured to provide insights on vehicle refurbishment in the non-structural repair category, the training also makes provision for on the job support which includes mentorship on business fundamentals relating to the Panel Beating Industry.
Expressing her delight with the program, Dawn Isdale, Country Governance Leader and Director at 3M South Africa, mentions the value of the training. “It is so rewarding to see the benefits this program is bringing to the Anglo American Zimele communities. Sharing our global expertise in collision repair solutions is not just about improving throughput at panel shops, it’s about equipping individuals with skills that will have a lifetime impact.”
The Twenty (20) participants who are part of the initiative, are Zimele Beneficiaries from Sishen Mine’s host communities and aspiring entrepreneurs that work for panel beaters or those that run their own small vehicle repairs operation. Project Lead and Zimele Hub Manager – Ernest Meas provides details on the importance of the program. “Investing in this Collision Repair Program within our community is not just about fixing vehicles—it's about rebuilding livelihoods. For small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs, this initiative equips participants with vital skills, turning challenges into opportunities and paving the way for sustainable growth.
